What is the Birmingham Grotto Getaway?
Well, it’s an annual gathering of the Birmingham Grotto and friends to raise funds for the Grotto and other caving organizations. The Getaway was founded by Jimmy Harrison, and has been a fixture for many years.

About the auction
Saturday evening is the traditional Grotto auction. Any donations are welcomed and encouraged. In the past, we typically auction off tons of outdoor items related to caving, camping, hiking, backpacking, canoeing, etc. However, items/donations are not limited to outdoor activities. Depending on our donors this year, you’re liable to see all sorts of items up for bid. The auction is the Grotto’s biggest fundraiser of the year, and allows us to support other caving organizations such as NSS and SCCi. 


Cost:
We’ll be having food and beverages on Saturday night $15 per person. This can be added to your auction tab or paid for up front at sign in.

  • Pizza and bevs will be catered
    Accommodations:
    Rooms are hotel style with 2 full size mattresses. 16 rooms are available at $125 a night.
    On site camping is free and available at sign in at the conference center.
    If you’re staying in the hotel, no animals allowed. If you are camping, on leash dogs are welcomed. No dogs are allowed in the conference center.
    Payment
    Auction items can be purchased using cash, check, or Paypal.

Schedule
Friday night: Check in, get comfy, and mingle.
Saturday: Morning ridgewalk led by Dave Howell and multiple cave trips throughout the day
Saturday Night: Grotto Dinner and Auction
Sunday: Cleanup and head home
